okay, for once a few simple questions Wink

my deed poll arrived this morning and it comes into effect in a few weeks, so i'm trying to organise all my documentation so i can do it asap.

1. i am renewing my provisional license due to a change of name/gender, do i still need to include proof of residence? because all my bank statements are obviously still in my birth name as they're not as much of a priority as my driving license. i would have thought my old license would be a proof of residence but you never know.

2. I'm a bit confused about changing my national insurance number. in the pack that came with my deed poll it says to write to [such address] to change it (the same one it does on the envelope your ni number card came in)

but..

on the ftm network they give a different address for changing your 'social security' and say they will provide you with a new ni number card. now i'm confused...is the ftm network killing 2 birds with one stone or do i need to write to both?

3.one thing that isn't on the ftm network list is the electoral registry thing where you vote. i don't know how that works as i'm not 18 just yet and so have never recieved a form. i assume they do this automatically in the autumn after you turn 18. how do you change that BEFORE they send the form out to you or is the form blank to begin with?

i'm sure there will be more questions but that's it for now Laughing

National Insurance numbers do not change. I told my local tax office and department of work and pensions about my change of name and they took care of the rest.

I notified my local council about my change of name so that they could update the electoral register.

i asked the deed poll company to post-date my deed poll because i don't want it to come into effect until the day i turn 18 (in a few weeks).

ah, sorry, i meant to say the details on the ni card and not the number. i have nothing against the number itself Laughing

just the ftm network and deed poll company say two different places to change the same thing Confused and are social security and national insurance linked so that if i notify one the other is changed too? i guess i'll notify both to be on the safe side Razz

ahh my local council, i guess i'll find their address off google or something. i'll probably forget to notify places as i seem to find out about ANOTHER place everytime i look into this..

i hate forms..

How Do you find your local tax office? I read something that said the address should be on your payslip, but it's not on mine. Is that because I only work part time (I can't imagine why it would be...)?

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs are online at:

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/

You can find your local tax office here:

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/enq/index.htm

Just enter your postcode.

Wow. Thanks for that. I went round and round those sites for hours, I must be a complete moron. Or maybe they keep that well hidden to minimise their paperwork...
