Feel free to move if I have posted in the wrong place in my half asleep post night shift semi coma...

Just a quick update...

I sorted my deed poll in January but was having a nightmare at work (I'm a psychiatric nurse) because my management were insisting I either stay put and conform as the male me or I temporarily redeploy. (Long story!)

So I went for redeployment. I'm now temping as staff nurse Beth on a mental health assessment ward attached to A and E in central Manchester and FINALLY I'm staff nurse Beth at work. I love the job and my new managers have encouraged me to apply for an assistant managerws post. I should be interviewed for that at the start of April so fingers crossed!

My second asessment at CX is May 15th and hopefully I start hormones on that date as long as the pre hormone bloods and the second asessment go ok. I'm loving my new job and my boys (my kittens Pete and Paul that I got a couple of weeks ago) are great fun. So yeah life is pretty good at the moment. Hoorah! Very Happy

Glad to hear everything's going well for you Beth!

I'm sure it'll all go well for you at CX in May also, but in case you're not aware, although you'll get the go ahead to start hormones on that day, you won't actually be able to start them until probably a couple of weeks later. The way it works is that the psych writes to your GP advising them to prescribe hormones for you and saying what blood tests you should have, and when you should have them, and you should also receive a copy of the letter. You then make an appointment to see your GP, who will prescribe the hormones. The letter usually takes a one to two weeks to come through.

As far as the pre-hormone bloods are concerned, I don't think you have anything to worry about there. Everyone I know who did have any problem, myself included, was called back for an appointment with the endo prior to the second psych appointment.

Thats true it does take a while to get there but ive never had that problem with them as they have always hand written me a letter that day to take to my GP myself to get things moving while the official letter is bein typed and sent.
They did it when I first got the go ahead to start T so before my GP got the typed letter thru the post he had already seen the hand written one and I had already started T. They did it recently too with regards to the frequency of my injections changing.

I went for my second appointment last week and they said that they would send a letter to me at the same time as writing to my GP so I'd know when to make the appointment with my GP. I don't know if this a new thing they do, perhaps to stop people hassling their GP every day to see if the GP has the letter yet.

Hi Princess,

I'm not up to date with your transition, as we ain't chatted online for a while, so excuse me if I'm on wrong lines. If you haven't started HRT this could be the start process, as it is standard to have a second opinion for hormones reccomendation.

A base line blood test (which I never had boo hoo), which wil test liver, kidney etc and hormone base level, possibly blood pressure test too.
