Um... another one. Has anybody had any problems with localised itching? Namely... um... "down there"? I've not shaved that part to irritate it or anything, but every night when I settle down into bed it's driving me to scratch myself raw and then I spend the rest of the night feeling like I'm on fire there.
I'm going out of my mind here _________________ I look back at most of my life and think "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!??"

Have you recently changed your shower gel, or washing powder or anything that could be causing some sort of allergy? If there's nothing like that, and if it doesn't go away in the next couple of days, then it's probably best to pop to the doctor or local GU clinic and get it checked out.

it sounds odd but try some moisturiser on the area
basic blue nivia creme
may help
or if that fails e45 cream _________________ Man [...] must count no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth." I've heard that being itchy down there is a symptom diabetes.
maybe get a test to see about diabetes? _________________ When I grow up I want to be a BIZARRO fire engine

Dampness can cause a type of fungus to grow down there if one has tight compressing underwear.

Oh god. That's the 3rd sign of diabetes I've had in the last few months. I've been to the doctor about it, had my blood sugar tested, blood taken, insulin levels and stuff and I've come out clean. It's really confusing. _________________ I look back at most of my life and think "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!??"

I wouldn't worry that its necessarily diabetes..there are many other possible causes to check out, as suggested, eg thrush.
Has it been quite hot lately where you are? Sometimes warmer temperatures, particularly if you are wearing tight clothing down there, can increase ithchiness. Or if you are wearing synthetic threads down there (eg nylon, polyester), this can alter the balance of bacteria down there, and result in itchiness. Wearing cotton underpants can help, as can wearing trousers etc that aren't made of synthetic or stretchy materials. _________________ Gender nut and site admin...hehe

Yeah thrush causes terrible itching and then burning pain after you have been scratching, it can also come and go. Sometimes it can cause a kind of white discharge. it's something I get on and off as my hormones change at different times of the month. If you are shy to go to the doctor it wouldn't hurt to eliminate this by yourself.
You can try cleaning the area and applying some natural yoghurt every couple of hours which can kill the fungus. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO DAIRY PRODUCTS.
OR
any chemist and some supermarkets sell a cream called CANESTEN which is for thrush. you can buy this over the counter without needing to explain yourself as loads of people use a bit of it sometimes and it does not need to be prescribed by a doctor because it's a pretty harmless cream UNLESS you are allergic to any of the ingredients OR have any of the medical conditions listed in the precautions.
You can try and eliminate that on your own and see if it works. The canesten costs about three or four quid and a large tub of natural yoghurt costs about a pound. If it is thrush yo need to be careful when washing and wash gently with a mild soap and don't start washing repeatedly every hour or so because it can make it worse.
Hope this is helpful.
Dennis
