Hi everyone!

Ive been looking at the forum for a while now and like many of the stories Ive read on here have spent years suppressing what Ive always felt.

Ive finally reached the point where I feel I have to do something about it but am not sure at the mo how far I want to go. I havent told my parents yet (although I did discuss it with my Dad years ago when the 'make me a man' doc was on tv!) but I have told my GF and although she is trying to be supportive she is really struggling with it. I cant say I blame her in a way as Ive been so depressed and hard to deal with -she deserves a medal really!

Id also love to hear from anyone near me in the Westcountry? I cant be the only one!

Hi George, and welcome to tzone!

My GF has been wonderfully supportive too, although I know there are times when she finds it difficult. There's some good resources out there for families and partners, by the way - if you're interested I can tell you more. You might well find that as you figure out what you need to do to, your depression will start to lift - I've suffered from depression in the past, so I know where you're coming from.

You're definitely not the only one in the West Country though - there's a group called Western Boys - they organised an FTM Get Together earlier this year. The guys were a very friendly bunch - definitely worth getting in touch with.

Good luck and I look forward to reading more of your posts. Why not start a blog in the blogs section so you can write about how you feel and keep us all updated on how you're getting on?

Hi George

I'm a West Country lass, though I've moved to Scotland. I know Devon reasonably well; we used to do the occasional cross-border raid from Somerset, me and the gang...

Of course you won't be the only one, lol. There are far more trans people out there than most people realise.

I'm from Bristol which is regarded as being in the Westcountry by some people. I am of course MtF but on this forum the guys and girls all support each other.

Just thees be careful, young'un... The Somerset Freedom Fighters aren't disbanded yet. We'd secure Devonshire's East coast by the mid nineties...

Well Ive got in touch with the Western Boys and hopefully will be going to their next meet at the end of November - thanks Dave!

Im hoping my Councillor will have located an appropriately open minded GP for me next week. As Ive recently moved I dont have a GP yet so we are trying to find one that will be open minded.

Glad to have been able to help George! They're nice guys, so don't be shy about going Smile

Good luck with finding a GP - I know it can be difficult sometimes. Remember though, that if you end up with one who isn't sympathetic, you can always change to a different one; you're not stuck with that one for life.

Hey Guys,

I just joined today, I know everyone says it, but I didn't realise there were so many of you out there.

I live in Devon and have never met (or even spoken to) FtM identified people before.

Hey Jedd, welcome to tzone!

Yep, there's loads of us out there - you're definitely not alone. In fact, it would appear that there's a whole posse down in the Devon/West Country way! So are you going to go to the Western Boys meet at the end of November too?
