Again, no, but for one moment I thought we had a united front against an intruder in the nest when we need it. _________________ The Daily Turnout - King of the Throne Room

Hive mind? No. But I think we can all agree that this is a damned stupid idea for a show. It's explotive and frankly, reality TV should die a flaming death anyway. No one here should be pandering to the tabloid culture.
It's bad enough as it is without feeding them. _________________ Pay no attention to the moderator in a gimp mask behind the curtain.

Personally Im pretty shocked by other peoples reactions to this. Yes I think its a complete pants idea, no i dont think it would work. But being threatening to people because they have a st00pid idea is just retarded.
Reenie - wtf? You make it sound like you're "part of the mafia" or something, get all mad about it if it was actually in production. And to be honest, they need to find stupid enough people to get on the show for it to get into production in the first place.
The whole stereotype of transgendered people is, I admit, a bad one and I dont think this show is going to help at all. Transgendered people have no skills in "being transgendered" unless its their "stealth mode" and lets face it..Most of us live in fear of being caught out as it is without having thousands of people watch a show and saying "Hey! they were born a girl!" etc etc.
But reading through this topic.. I was just.. well I was disgusted to be honest. I even read Reenies link about the whole homeless person thing and even then I still dont think it was very fair to go off on someone for asking your opinion. A main part of our fight is to be seen as being equal to everyone else, how are we even going to come close to reaching that when we just flip out at someone for asking our opinion?
I know some of us are constantly on defense mode but I think we should stay calm, we cant stop them from making the show like i said but we could still influence them and give them good ideas to change that "reality tv show" to something more appropriate

Meanwhile, I find your use of the word "retarded" to be very offensive.
How ironic, in a thread which talks about how the use of specific words (i.e. "Tranny") can be offensive to certain groups or people.

"st00pid" and "retarded" gave me two reasons not to dignify the post with a reply. I've also been involved in enough ugly spats and I've better things to do.
However, I agree that the use of the word retarded is inappropriate here.

I've moved this thread, as t's nothing to do with FTM's as a group.
This is a general topic.

Mr. Bielecki may be posting this with the best intentions but I find it hard to credit. I do find the 'Tranny' word offensive and wonder at someone who claims that they want to improve the media image of the T-populations use of it.
Reality TV is not popular because of its examination of how minority groups behave in 'normal' society, it is popular because it offers a infantile view/response situation and can be used to reinforce societal prejudices.
Thankfully nowadays despite the best efforts of certain sections of the press acceptance of T-people seems to be more widespread than it was in the past and a " Roll up, Roll up see the freaks perform" show would I believe do a lot more harm than good.
Maybe a documentary talking to T-people who have made ( as percieved in this materialist society ) a success in their lives would be more successful.
I know that at work after the showing of the Lucy documentaries I had an overwhelmingly positive response and that many of my colleagues had specifically watched the programmes because I worked there and wanted a deeper understanding of the issues I and other T-people face every day. _________________ It's not what you're born with

Not a horrific idea, although they might want to reword it due to the hypersensitivity of the word tranny.
Oh and FYI. I call myself a tranny all the time. Transexual is such a mouthful sometimes and dont even get me started on the ultra-PC "transgendered person" name. I'd have a be out of breath every time somebody talked to me about the subject _________________ I look back at most of my life and think "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!??"

Yeah so I'm going to go against the fact that I've warned members about using this word in the main forums before and wholeheartedly tell you to fuck off and stop trying to make money out of a minority group. Seriously, it's like having a "Top Model" series for veiled Muslim women and calling it "Britain's Next Top Ninja", it's just as derogatory and off the mark. _________________ Hellfrozeover be a pirate and a Transgenderzone moderator.

I've deliberately been avoiding reading this thread, but curiosity got the better of me.
That's exactly what this insane "idea" is all about, curiosity. Cashing in on the general public's increasingly obsessive curiosity with the "transpeople" in both the UK and around the world.

yeah for you its different
but to quote a Black leader when discussing the word n*gger
no other group has to disrespect themselves by calling themselves derogatory terms to this extent - racialists are doing a great job if it has come to the stage where black people are calling each other n*gger
i think the fact that a term like transgender person is such a mouthful (no pun intended) actually forces people to think before they use it actually its easier to say he or she - lets face it
i guess the term trans is less harsh - maybe try saying you are trans person instead it quick and doesnt carry that abusive charge that has been adopted by the mindless thugs
considered terms are the way forward i think - if tzone could do one thing - it would be to slowly eradicate that awful term tranny - that would be something to be proud of and something you can all help with and say - we did that _________________ Man [...] must count no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth." I think we should make the Ford Transit our mode of transport of choice. Lots of people I know call them tranny vans anyway...
Maybe "Britain's Next Top Tranny" could be a program about vans? _________________ The boobs are just a set of metaphors.
