step one: download firefox ;)
have you restarted the browser since changing the cookie settings? because you probably will need to.
in a worst case scenario doing a sys restore to before they changed might help :/

just wanted to pop in with my own opinion, i've always been an IE user, purely as its the pc's dafault. But this latest one is screwed over so bad i refuse to have it on my computer.
i have firefox too, got it just to see what its like n it seemed like the differences were pointless to argue over.
and IE interacts with my windows skin better.
but the latest IE almost had me turning fire fox to default before i found the uninstall option. _________________ 僕は男の人です

you can get skins for firefox _________________ Man [...] must count no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth." I prefer firefox too. It's very customisable and extendable. That said though, if it's too much like IE for you, then I would suggest Opera. It's come a long way in the last few years, and is a pretty awesome (and fast) browser itself.

McAffee? burn it. McAffee used to be the biggest of my problems with my computer. *cough*bitdefender*cough*
Ummm. As for the browser, I don't know what else to suggest, seeing as I haven't dealt with IE for 3 years.

If there is an Asda near you , you'll be able to find one there, as little as £20, try it.

Scanners: I have an HP 5530 which is a cumbersome beast. It has the ability to scan transparancies, though. It's very slow, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you pick one up cheap. I shifted it over to Mum's place because her laptop runs fine with it and the combination makes a useful photocopier.
My favourite, though, is the Hewlett-Packard HP4200c. It's got three buttons on the front, it's lightweight and compact and it's as simple as a moustrap and just as effective.
Mine is nearly eight years old and refuses to die, indeed it's in rude health. I use it for scanning documents into my computer and it's quick about it. I've used it for photographs in the past and can't fault it. I'm sure you could pick one up on ebay, or find out what HP's spiritual successor is and buy new.
dabs have a HP ScanJet 2400 1200dpi at £40 _________________ The Daily Turnout - King of the Throne Room

There is, but it's quite difficult to get to there from where i live, as the bus services are rubbish (They think everyone got a car ).

I've got a cheap HP printer that i bought nearly 10 years ago that's still going strong now, so it seems that they make things to last. They are a few Scanjet 2400 on ebay, i'll probably put a bid in for one of them.
Thanks all,
xx

Hewlett-Packard printers are near-enough bomb-proof too.
I've got deskjets:
940c for five years - it "threw a rod" once but I managed to fix it easily enough.
815c perfectly behaved for eight years
720c of unkown vintage but looks similar era to 815c given to me recently and it still works...
I used to work for Dataflow Communications who had tons of HP stuff. When you rely on it to run your business it needs to be reliable.
We have an HP Pavilion laptop too. _________________ The Daily Turnout - King of the Throne Room

Grrr!
Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0
I use this all the time and one of the useful features is the shortcut key combination to view the image at normal size.
It's called View Actual Pixels and the shortcut combination is CTRL-ALT-0
It's stopped working. I've reinstalled elements but still no joy. The system recognises the key combination because it works elsewhere (eg. assigning a shortcut to a desktop application).
What's there to do?
