Partner has just pointed out that in fact trans people could use the police focus on 'crimes' solved numbers to their own advantage by reporting any incident as ecah time a police person responds to a call it is logged as an incident and gives them their brownie points.

Yup. Yup. Yup. They are target driven in many cases, and have to 'clear up' x% of all reported incidents. If you keep reporting crimes, and they fail to meet the target, somebody will get it in the head. It's just the reporting bit which is sometimes difficult...remember that if you don't get an incident number, it ain't included on the statistics.

Didnt know that. Do police have to keep time sheets of how they spent their day?
Call outs must be logged somewhere?
And someone will have to total them to give the figures to the police watchdogs?

I like the point of carrying the booklet ( didn't think of that myself Embarassed )
As i understand it the police have to account for their activities ie ;- stop and search , incidents investigated etc,
Did you know that ALL incidents that are issued a incident number are collated by the home office AND they are required to put in place additional funding if REPORTED INCIDENTS rise over a preset level. (No i don't know what that level is )

Just for the record the police authority i am working with ain't the old bill themselves BUT the people who advise and direct their efforts
Ie ;- policy making/ setting

Yeah, they have to record what they do, but when you don't get to see an officer it doesn't get recorded, and so there are no statistics. In a way, the crime never existed, which is an odd feeling.

Referring to yesterdays Guardian article about the TS getting verbal abuse when transitioning she would have been perfectly within her rights to call the police to the business to deal direct with the abusers but how would that have gone down with management and the hasslers?
If a work situation is so bad would a police community officer be able to visit the business and lay down the law to the bosses and point out that bosees are responsible for upholding sex discrimination law?

We have protection in theory but getting it into practice where its needed is another matter.

It would also leave them open to a compensation claim . In the event try to collect evidence , Video or tape ( phone / digital cameras are good ) OR their own cctv footage, I am aware of how awkward employers can make life from experience

I haven't really trusted the police that much since I saw the way they 'policed' the G8 protests in Edinburgh back in 2005

If anyone was inciting to riot it was the police themselves by their actions, behaviour and general demeanour

Would you care to elaborate ? . No names . no locations . a rough area ( north/south ) would help.
