Note:

No-one has signed the letter.

No-one would answer the telephone (I tried both numbers).

If any of you have received one of these, I'd like to hear about it.

I did manage to get through to endocrinology and I managed to establish the the "unforeseen circumstances" turn out to be Dr McLellan taking his annual leave.

I shall elaborate further on the matter in my blog, but first I shall have to wait for the steam to stop coming out of my ears. There has been a Reenie Roasting, of course... Mad

They've probably had to send out a whole bunch of these, and actually signing them might hurt their poor little wrists - at which point they'd then be off for weeks with RSI, and service would get even worse Wink

No doubt it's lunchtime. Or tea break. Or they've nipped to the toilet. or something like that...

Annual leave is unforseen circumstances? What sort of rubbish is that?! Did Dr McLellan only book the AL last week or something - I sincerely doubt that, somehow!

I can see exactly why you're so mad - but at least they've managed to give you a few weeks notice, and haven't sprung it on you at the last second as you're on your way there! I know that's not much consolation though Sad.

I read about your cancellation, Rachel, and it made my blood boil, as did Dave and Rachel's cancellations.

It is not beyond the management function of any organisation to provide cover for a member of staff and most businesses will fail if they do not do so on a consistent basis.

The NHS have buggered us about to the extent that we can't rely on our appointments until are backsides are in the consultant's office. Presumably they run away at the slightest whiff of a private patient's money.

I have spoken to the Sandyford to let them know what has happened as there will no doubt be others who have been let down today. They know that I will raise the issue on Tuesday when I visit them.

We have all heard of the cowboy builders who disappear on holiday, leaving their client's homes open to the weather for a fortnight. This situation is no better. Shame on them.
