Subject: Funding refusals in Wales

Following a series of funding refusals all over Wales for referrals to G.I. clinics, and for GRS, two of us have started to
gather
information for the Ceredigion M.P., who is basically supportive. We are also in correspondence with Health Commission Wales.

We need to accumulate as detailed a picture as possible, and as fast as possible, of the experience of TG people with the NHS in
Wales in the last 3 years. We desperately need chapter and verse, not anecdotes, to fuel the MP's investigation, (and to present
to our Welsh Assembly member after the coming elections.)
The HCW states blandly that 'there have been some referrals'. We need to find out if that is true, and if so why those referrals
were made, when so many have been refused. Just how bad does a situation have to be ? As it is, we have heard that at least one
suicide, and one hunger strike have resulted from refusals. Can anyone provide names and dates ?
So .....

1) Please can we have any information known to you about both successful and unsuccessful requests for funding in Wales since
June 2004, either for referral or for GRS.
2) Do you know of any others working on this specific issue in Wales ? Please put them in touch
