Hi, I am new to the forum, so forgive me if I make an error!

I am having problems with hrt in France. I have lived here for 6 years as a post op. I had surgery 30 years ago.

My problem is finding a doctor to precribe HRT most of them refuse. An endocrinologist also refused. Has anyone had any experiences of French HRT ?

Many thanks. You may contact off list if you prefer.

Hi Nikki, welcome to tzone. Smile

I'm not aware of any members here who have experience of the French health system. I find it shocking that no-one will prescribe you with HRT. I guess you must be 50+ and therefore at risk of osteoporosis without HRT.

Surely your doctor must know this?

Are you able to get HRT from another source, via the internet, for example?

Thank you for your post. I have had issues with osteoporosis whilst in the UK which were resolved before emigration. It is not just bone density that suffers there is a real risk of shortening your life without hormones, energy level is nearly nil.
The French just want to prescribe androgen. I feel this is against my human rights as it will turn me into something I have fought against since early childhood.

I have looked at the internet and hope that they can guarantee continuity of supply.
Perhaps others have had experiences of internet hormones?

Hi Nikki.
This might be what you're after
http://www.inhousepharmacy-europe.com/
They ship very fast (about 2 weeks) and are reliable. I can personaly vouch for the Progynova on that site doing the job. The postage is included in whatever price they quote, however customs and duty at the French border are not if they're applicable. You do NOT need a prescription.
As for finding the correct dose I'm not sure what to suggest as I understand you take a lower dose post-op than pre-op.
Anybody who's got any issues with online pharmacies, keep it to yourself please unless you've got any better ideas how to help out here.
On the long term, I'd start looking into what you can do to get a prescription. I'm sure somebody here is more familiar with those EU laws concerning treatment of transsexuals than me and I'll leave it to them to bring those up Smile
Good luck
-Rachel

It's been two years since I bought online. This was the last supplier that I used and they supplied good product. I don't know if they're still reliable, but the goods turned up in a timely fashion.

Yes, watch out for import duties.

I'm sure that your doctor is acting unlawfully. Unfortunately, I'm not au fait with either French or EU law, but I'd certainly see if the French legal profession are interested.

Is there an equivalent of the Citizen's Advice Bureau in France?

Many thanks for your comments. i am well aware after all this time regarding dosage. I do feel however that there should be a small androgen component to our treatment to maintain some libido ! There is an advise centre run by individual Maries but they usually deal with debt and housing problems.
It is not a simple as demanding treatment for being TS, other medical considerations have to be taken in to account. If you antagonize your doctor, you will end up doing the rounds looking for treatment. Doctors are consulted on a private basis with costs refunded by the state or insurance.
They are another problem to overcome. it would not be prudent to inform them of everything as I know to my cost.
France lags behind the UK on these issues and has just rescinded the first gay marriage.

Well, your quack was keen to prescribe, so you've no worries there! Smile

Have you thought of approaching a German doctor? You're close enough to the border. Germans have a reputation for doing things properly and I can't imagine them embracing the French reluctance to prescribe HRT.
