Come on people, this is not worth arguing over. The fact is that some people will choose to get a more official looking document and some won't. The main thing is that everyone has the option presented to them so that they can make an informed choice. _________________ Check out the Tzone team bios (including mine!) at: http://www.transgenderzone.com/bio.htm

Just for anyone reading this in the future, I made my own deed poll and it has been accepted by everyone. I also got a letter from my doctor (based on this: http://ftm.org.uk/node/57 ) and when writing to institutions I often include this for the extra authority.
The only slight bit of hassle I had was when I went into the local branch of my bank. After filling out the form the guy went out of the room for ages and came back and said he had spoken to the manager and they couldn't accept it, I needed a document signed by a solicitor. I told him he was wrong, I had researched this and it was perfectly valid and legal. He still doubted me but agreed to send off the form anyway. He made a thing about being sure he had my contact details (which being my bank they obviously did anyway...) for if they sent it back to him. Obviously it was fine and a couple of days later (it was fast!) I had new cheque books, cards, etc.
I know some people are a bit afraid of the whole thing and the 'official' deed poll (if such a thing existed) helps to give them to confidence to talk to people - but personally I can't stand to pay for something I can (easily) make myself for free :p

Interesting point, Jackie.
The UK and Commonwealth countries will recognise your new name, but I really don't know how Poland will react. When you find out, will you let us know? _________________ The Daily Turnout - King of the Throne Room

always nice to have our european friends on tzone
i suspect at a polish citizen you will have to conform to their laws unless you are applying for British Citizenship again only your Polish Embassy can help you there i guess :\ _________________ Man [...] must count no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth." I find this difficult to believe unless you're under the age of majority. What if you're 93 years old? You can't reasonably be expected to produce your parents at that age. _________________ The Daily Turnout - King of the Throne Room

Hi all and thxs for all responds:) Its nice to have ppl who are willing to help u with advice:)
About Polish Embassy now... I send them letter 2day where I explain my sytuation and now I just have to wait. Everything in Poland that involwed any kind of paper work takes ages. They are so slow with everything and so behind... Its not like I just trying to slag the off coz I proud of fact I am Polsih. Its just fact that they are never helpfull and allways seeing problem with everything.
About parents thing... If ur parents are no longer on this world u just have to get cert. of death and u will get kind of counsilor Its even not about it but what u need to do more to get ur gp.psychologist, and doctor who pescribe u hormones and start all the treatments and they have to be witness in court and give steatment about ur case, so its pain in bat is well lol:) Waiting time is like a year...and its expensive and complicate. And u will never get 100% shore that will alloud u to change ur names and sex in ur id. How stupid that is?? Its all depend on judge :/ awww I know its not easy here is well but trust me, u r soooo lucky that u living in uk.
If they will said no to me that they wont change my title and names I am redy to take some more actions coz its so not fair. I dont have much more to do with Poland anymore, I wrk here, live here and all my life is here + if we r in eu why they should decline leagal documents from here?? Right... will keep u update with all my actions lol _________________ Life is now or never... www.myspace.com/blackout_86 have look on my new pic from Switzerland

You needn't worry about obtaining hormones. If you change your name by deed poll or statutory declaration in the UK, then you will be recognised in your new name here. It's only a problem when applying for a replacement Polish passport. You should still be able to obtain a gender recognition certificate so that UK law will recognise your new gender, but of course there will be problems with your birth certificate which I presume is Polish. _________________ The Daily Turnout - King of the Throne Room
