Hey Cayden
I'm not sure if you're just talking about lower surgery, or top surgery as well, so I'll give you all the information I have.
Top surgery:
There's 3 main methods for top surgery, periareolar (keyhole), double incision and Lena Andersson's "doughnut" method.
Periareolar is usually performed in one operation, although if not enough tissue is removed a second operation may be required.
Double incision is usually done in one operation; however, a revision to remove "dog ears" may be necessary, especially if the person is overweight at the time.
The doughnut method will always require more than one operation - usually two (as far as I'm aware anyway - I may be wrong on this, if so, please will someone correct me!)
For those of us with larger chests, the double incision method is the only one which will work - I don't know if this applies to you or not.
Lower sugery:
Again, there are a number of different methods available. As far as I'm aware, only one operation is needed if metoidioplasty is chosen. Hysterectomy in this case would be a further operation, I think.
For phalloplasty, if you choose the forearm method with the London team (Mr Ralph/Mr Christopher) then it's a four stage process - i.e. four operations - including one where hysterectomy is carried out.
Alternatively, the Belgian team does the phallo in one stage, although I'm not sure if this includes the hysto or if that's expected to already have been carried out.
I'm not sure how many stages the abdominal phallo is carried out in, two or three I think. I'm pretty sure it's more than one though.
Sorry I can't give a definitive answer here. I guess you're looking at one or two operations for top, and between one and four for lower surgery. So in total, somewhere between two and six!
