Doom 3 was a majorly under-rated game. it had atmosphere in spades, even if it wasn't as out-out scary as the (still most scary horror game out that I've played) system shock 2. The shotgun did suck a lot in d3 though, mainly because of the evil 22 degree spread on it.

As for the new wolfenstein... hopefully it won't end up as.... derivative as Return was.

I've been making mediocre progress through titan quest, assassins creed, and Medieval 2 still, currently I'm playing the 'stainless steel' modification for medieval 2 which expands the map, reskins the units, makes the enemy factions somewhat more competant, and adds new factions. (taking over the world as the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon (that's the eh... Knights Templar) is quite difficult, since you start off with a wee wooden castle and have the fatimid Caliphate (think Salah-al-din) and the seljuk turks bearing down on you with straightaway.

i love Assassins Creed that much that i went round and collected all the flags on the 360version. once its completed there isn't much replayabilty but there are sure to bring a 2nd one out. I'm about to start playing Mass Effect and replaying deadrising both on the 360

Wow. I don't quite have the patience to get all the flags, but I'm enjoying it. it just seems very... shallow. sure you can run and jump everywhere, but nothing goes very -deep-. I'm hoping for the sequel that they'll insert some of the depth of the hitman games, especially in the open-endedness you can perform your mission. "I stab you in the throat in front of the whole city and run away giggling" is not very professional Razz

Also, hope you enjoy Mass Effect. it's a very fun game Smile I've finished the game once as a Vanguard (the biotic/firearms combination class.)

Heh im not normaly a completionist i've got games ive played thru once on easy and cba to play again. yet some like assasins and gta im on a mission lol
I loved all the counters moves, climbing running and jumping. Although it is free roaming its still restrictive and very repeative when it comes to again info. Im sure there be a 2nd with all the good bits and a bit more depth.
I've got high hopes for mass effect heard so many good things about it. been waiting till i have the free time to play it. Im coming to the end of gta and im only working part time again plus War online isnt out for a month, so nows the time lol.

Wow $20 mill, i guess it serves them right for breach of contract.
What i dont understand is what the employee that leaked it on to the net would gain from it. If people could download all there games there'd be no need to buy disc's which kinda means they wouldn'y have a job lol.

Started mass effect all i can say is WOW, i only wanted to play something for an hour and it ended up being 3 an half, im hooked the char creation is cool not as limited as i was lead to believe in a review i read. I've just been going round chatting to everyone i can find on the citadel. think ill be playing this for a long while lol.

the person that leaked it probably torrents all their games, and assumes that someone is -bound- to leak it. They might as well be the ones to get the bragging rights for it amongst their friends.

What kind of character are you going for in mass effect?

took me a while to decide, i got it down to a infiltrator and a vangaurd in the end i settled on vanguard. I like the idea of being a combat class mixed with something else and biotic's sounded cool lol. ill prolly play thru a 2nd time and hopefully i can pick another class.

Assasins creed is 3rd person action games i think. Bit like metal gear with stealth and stuff but it has free running and its set during the crusades very cool game. Very Happy

Assassins creed is more akin to the 'hitman' line of games than any other, in my opinion, except where hitman is more about never being found out, hiding the bodies, and making a clean getaway, assassins creed is more about 'making a scene' and having everyone know x baddie was assassinated by you, which kinda necessitates a bit of running away from the guards. Often this can be made more fun by playing benny hill music in the background.

As for commonalities, both are third person action games where you tend to mingle with the crowd rather than hide from everyone (like splinter cell or thief) and both are about finding opportune moments to strike in very public areas.

I went Vanguard too Very Happy best of all the classes, in my opinion, though the sniper rifle -does- have an awesome sound, the shotgun/biotic combination is just infinitely more useful in my opinion.

that made me giggle the idea of running across roofs and jumping buildings to benny hill music, assasins creed will never be the same lol

Vangaurd definatly seemed the more appealing class, something about shotguns, and the biotics are really cool.
I didnt realise you could specialise your class though im now a Shocktrooper ^_^. Ive played for about 16hours mostly doing all the mini missions lol
