|
|
I often think it'd be nice for me to try wearing my hair in a more boyish style, but at the same time I love having long hair (I've always thought that guys generally look better with long hair ). Can anyone suggest any styles that would look masculine enough and still allow me to keep my hair the same length? Oh, and my hair is waist-length, if that's any help at all. I think I should probably get it cut a bit shorter soon, but for now it'd be nice to be able to do something with it to make it a bit more boyish.

well one thing i noticed is that guys hair doesn' t tend to have any particular style, hey just sort of let it grow out, and so it generally looks a bit neglected and a bit m essy. especially so if you were to go for a sort of metalhead look.

I tend to leave my hair unstyled anyway, but somehow that still seems too feminine for me (with my figure, I can't easily make myself look that masculine! ;^^ ). Perhaps a ponytail or something like that might work though, if anyone here knows how guys manage to make their ponytails look boyish.

I'm not exactly an expert on long hair, but from what I can see, guys tend to have their pony tails at the bottom of their heads, sort of at the nape of the neck, if that makes sense, rather than higher up their heads. Dunno what else makes it boyish though - I guess using a plain band rather than something with flowers or feathers or other decoration on - but I'm sure you already figured that one out!

I never thought of tying it at the nape of the neck before... thanks for the advice, I'll definitely try that!

Umm...as much as I'm a fan of 80s nostalgia, somehow I doubt a mullet would suit me that well! ;^^

Long pony tail with all sorts of things stuffed in it.
Rastfarian locks, with beads and such.
Give your self side burns and who really cares.
Or just keep it under a cap and let the lower stick out. As we have different head and face shapes long/short hair can look good as well as not, so play about in the looking glass and see what you like best.

i agree with the higher pony tail problem Flameboy mentions/recommends
just leave it messy and unstyled _________________ Man [...] must count no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth." With reference to the hair thing, i'm a 31yr old male in the very early stages of sorting out my gender issues. i've had long hair since childhood and currently work in a very hard masculine environment where I constantly have to be on guard and alert so as not to appear weak and leave myself susseptable to the torrent of abuse that would follow. I love my long hair have shaved it all of in the past to be more manly/harder/fit in etc it does not work I felt exposed and not myself and it took 2yrs to grow it back!!!! _________________ WRAITH:

bleh. I could tell you the stories of the lengths (no pun intended) my parents went to to keep my hair short during my teens after I expressed the desire to grow it. _________________ I look back at most of my life and think "WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!??"

my mum didnt want me to grow my hair when i first wanted to, i used to get to a the point where you couldn't do anything with it then give in cause of the nagging and get it cut. In the end she just gave in, said it was my hair and left me 2 it. had long hair about 5 years now i think i love my long hair. it's just past my shoulders again trying to get it as long as i can bare it hopefully at least another 2-3 inches I dont get any hassle now she understands why it's long
I tend to have mine tied up nearer to the top/middle and always get called Miss or luv from behind lol. Most guys i know with long hair either leave it untied or have it tied low but its always messy lol
