I just had an idea
I've been playing the lottery, praying that I might be able to win enough to go private for a while now and I just had an intresting though.
Would anybody be intrested in joining a syndicate to pay for private treatment?
If we won the jackpot or 5 numbers and the bonus ball or something, we could get everyone treated privatly who took part and pay for anything else like surgeries and stuff. Whatever was left over could be donated to PFC.
Good idea? Bad idea? Want to take part. Could do with some input, especially regarding what to do with the smaller prizes. Smile

I don't really gamble, other than for fake money online Very Happy , but if you want any lottery win to be as big as possible, I'll offer a tip.

Avoid the "birthday effect". People often don't choose any numbers higher than 31, so if they come up then it's less likely that a lot of people have chosen them, so the jackpot won't be split so many ways.

Of course, this won't increase your chances of winning in the first place; it'll still be one in 14 million, or whatever the odds are.

Nice Idea Rachel Very Happy , I always said if I won a decent amount I'd donate a quantity for funding people from this site. Imagine twenty of us flying out to Thailand together Laughing
If you can sort out a way of doing it I'm up for it

Could really do with a discussion on this.
I'm still wondering what to do with the smaller prizes.
We could just keep them for the next month to knock some cash off the tickets or donate them to PFC I suppose. Sending 10 standing orders out for £1 seems a bit silly though in case anybody's thinking that Razz
I, personaly, think that we should keep our goals in mind here too if we win big. I mean, it's to fund transition and also for PFC, right? So, how would we allocate that? What would be okay for us to distribute it for? If we were to keep it to like £20k per individual would that be enough to fund everything? As I said before, the rest would go to PFC. I know, it's kinda going to make a lot of people grumble too that they could have walked away with say £100k each or something, but woulnt that benefit ALL transpeople too? Or should we remain capitalist on this and say that you should take part to benefit?
I dunno. These are questions that are too big for just me to answer here.

If you can find a way of doing it, sure Very Happy
I don't really play the lottery, but might as well give it a pop and I suppose as a syndicate we'd have ever so slightly better odds Smile

Interesting idea, I think it should be up the person if they want to give their money to charity.

Maybe we could set up our own credit union with the money.

tbh, I dont want people sending funds to my account and that's another thing that would have to be sorted out. The reason I say this is because I'm in severe debt and if any money arrives in my account it will just be eaten by my debtors before it can be used to buy tickets.
So I'll help setting this up as much as I can, but I wont bt the treasurer and whoever that is needs appointing and agreeing upon by everyone involved.
Sammantha. I'm not sure what a credit union is. Could you please elaborate on that? Smile

sounds like a really good idea giving everyone a certain amount for themselves and the rest going to charity. I'd image if you worked out what people would need to transition with and take the highest amount or maybe and average cost and give that to the people involced and the rest to charity.

That's the idea, yup.
Seeing as though it's bieng offered to the transfolk in particular, PFC seems like a good choice. Wonder what they'd do with a couple of million pounds? Very Happy

Okay. I've applied for a free pack from Camelot to find out what all the ins and outs of this are.

Long while since I did the maths that covers permutations and probabilities, yet gut instinct tells me we're going to need a lot of trannies to get this one to work.

Something like 20,000 of us putting up a £10 a week and within an order of magnitude I'd guess I'm not far wrong. Mathmo's out there?
