Hey mate,

Im not sure which apt with the shrink you're talkin about. Have you already had the apt with your surgeon? Or havent you got that far yet?

I know when I saw my surgeon she said I would need to see the hospitals shrink before they could operate, is that the apt you mean? If so, its nothin to worry about. As she said to me, its not to prove that you're serious about transitioning or anything like that cus we've already been thru all that seperate from them.
The apt with their shrink is to make sure we would be able to cope if the worst happens and the surgery goes wrong etc. I think its their way of covering their backs in a way. So its not like it was when you very first saw a shrink bout transitionin, it'll just be a chat to make sure you know what to expect and make sure you can cope with any pressures that may arise etc (I think).

If this isnt the apt you were talkin about then just let me know and ill do my best to help you.

Hope you're well mate

It's just a general type questoning, what's going to happen, after care, if your sure that you wish to go ahead. And possible what type they will do, depending on the size of your chest.

Also your past medical history, to see if there is any thing that will stop you from having the op in the first place.

So there is nothing really to worry about.

Good luck.

Wink

yeah, the app. that im on about is the first one with the NHS since the refferal from my doctor. so you can see why im a bit nervous as to what to expect. i'll be allright though, anybody can see im serious about it.. only, will i have to get naked? id rather prepare myself for it beforehand then just get told to on the day.

thanks

Hey,

As far as I know the only time you will need to get naked, or at least shirtless is when you see your surgeon. Obv he/she has to examine your moobs to see where the cuts will be made.
Just for shrink apts tho, I very much doubt you will have to remove any clothes, he is more interested in whats goin on in your mind that under your clothes.

So if the apt you're worried about is just to see a shrink then dont panic you wont have to undress.

I used to be like you tho, the very thought of takin my top off for a stranger terrified me. These days ive sort of mentally detatched myself from them, I think well they aint really mine so what the heck. So now I have no probs at all gettin shirtless. Now the downstairs bit......I havent conquered that fear yet Laughing

cheers Mike, i should be all right then, i'll be fine just so long as ive prepared for getting undressed before hand, if i was there and the doctor said get undressed without prior warning i don't know if i would be able too.
now, im more excited than anything to see the pyschiatrist,
thanks
