I've just been to the supermarket. I bought a 40 litre dustbin for the kitchen and a few groceries. At the checkout, the girl asked me if I'd like a hand with my packing.

"S'alright, luv, just chuck it in the bin..." Very Happy

The bus was packed on the way home, but still no-one would sit next to me.

Nothing to do with a dustbin on my lap, I suppose.

All too many people these days are using lots of non-environmentally-friendly plastic bags, when they would clearly be better off taking their shopping home in a bin Laughing
Functional both on the way home and inside the house, and the bottom will take a damn sight longer to drop out than it will for the bags!

Does that make you a "bin lady", as opposed to the more traditional "bag lady", Reenie? Cool

Haha! Very Happy

If I had a bigger bin, I could live in it and be Mrs Grouch.

I think I'll content myself with being Big Bird.

I was SO not saying that! Wink

So who do I get to be then? The Count? Animal? Or me and TFK as Statler and Waldorf maybe?

(Yeah, yeah, I know I've switched to the Muppets part way through that, but that's a minor detail...)

I'm not sure you two are old enough or grumpy enough, but keep going... there's still time. Wink

Another wonderful piece of furniture from Argos: one of the side panels has several splits in it and has required treatment with wood glue and patience. Just as well I was brought up by a father and grandfather with carpentry skills.

"Buy cheap, buy twice", says Mum.

I'm tempted to buy some tools and do the job myself next time. If it doesn't work out at least I'll only have myself to blame.

I can't really heap my wrath on greedy corporate fat cats and the monkeys that they employ.

Just a thought (while we're on the subject of monkeys): it is said that if you sit enough monkeys at enough typewriters, you'll end up with the works of Shakespeare - but how many monkeys does it take, and what do you give them to play with in order to develop the typewriter in the first place? Confused

Isn't it an infinite number of monkeys?

And I know what you mean about Argos furniture - however, I do have 2 bookcases that I bought from Argos in about 1995 which are both still going strong - despite having survived moving house at least 7 or 8 times now! The back panels have come slightly loose on one of them, but they're still perfectly servicable.

Personally though, I'd rather go to Ikea any day! Very Happy

I have two Argos bookcases and they look like they'll last the distance too. Definitely functional, though; you wouldn't want to look too close.

The filing cabinet is made of sub-standard materials and I could have fashioned a better article using a bow-saw and an axe. Altogether an expensive consignment of firewood. I don't even have a fireplace to put it in. Sad

Perhaps I should fill it full of dynamite and take it outside for the neds to play with. Twisted Evil
