I dislike organised religion and those that exist hardly serve us well, making no mention of gender variance. Nonetheless I see an opportunity for employing such to further our cause and protect our rights.

So let's start a religion.

There are laws that protect religious groups, so, if we have enough together (like herding cats, I know) we might have more clout than at present.

Given the difficulty of uniting any more than two trans individuals, our commandments will need to be few and open to wide interpretation.

Further, I suggest that membership of our religion should not preclude membership of another. So if you're a happy Jedi, you needn't have a crisis of faith.

We need to allow and encourage membership for non-trans members so that our friends and family can devote themselves to the cause too.

I haven't looked into the legal aspects of starting a religion and having it recognised, but rest assured, I'll look into it.

I'm sure there's plenty more that I haven't thought of so you can fill in the gaps.

Let the discussion begin.

PS: I am not a prophet, nor am I a teddy bear...

Since I dislike organised religion, either, I suggest ours should be a disorganised one!

Laughing and instead of 10 commandments we'll have 10 if-you-feel-likes? Smile

I hate to raise the serious flag here, but it is really a good idea? the reason i ask, is too me, it could serve as another invisible way to seporate ourselves from others (and im no big fan of that). Plus if this idea was to develop, would there then be a set criteria for those who want to be a part of it? if so, what would happen to those who did not fit the criteria.

i like that the question was raised, but i can't condone it.

Aimee.

I'm reminded of another time, and place, when there were 'special' places for other kinds of people. Toilets/bathrooms for blacks, and whites, etc.. Do we really need to have seperate facilities, I mean isn't religion supposed to preach 'love to all mankind'?..

My view, for what its worth, if you are a religious individual, who believes in themselves that they are a woman, in a mans body, or a man in a womans body (Whichever preference you choose, or their many gray shades), and as a religious person have been unable to gain their true selves from their respective almighty one, then there should be nothing preventing them transitioning, and continuing their faith, specially since in most, the almighty is supposed to love all his/her creations.

On a side note, no-one has ever seen a god, so no-one knows his/her gender, and if popular scripture is anything to go by, he has many faces, and many genders, so in my eyes, he'd be pleased to see a human take after him in that regard. Wink

Can I say that God isn't male or female, I see God as a being that is not human but is the life force of all living things everywere, I'm surprised people still think God is a man or woman, which is abit hard to prove, of course God's angels arn't even male or female either, because there not humans either.

has anyone really thought carefuly about why humans have genders?

simple answer - to breed and to continue the bloodlines of our human race.

of course there are hiccups with people who endup with GID and that's nobodies fault except nature and DNA.

but honestly I just can't see God with a penis or a virgina it's just too silly to be thought about. Confused

I think there have been quite a few people in history that have actually "seen" Gods and Goddesses of many different sexes and moods or of no sexes and moods at all. God is what you make of ...It. Whatever It might be.

I, too, dislike organized religion.

And comming to your plot, Reenie, it really sounds amusing Smile
But I does tend to get me into serious thoughts, too. I'm sorry Smile
Like, what do we need a religion for? What happened to the good ol movement thing? Are we entering an age when, again, religion will be more important than politics? Are we entering the new "middle ages"? Rolling Eyes

For free ice cream! It's like this: you enter a shop, say "Good day, I am a member of Disorganized Religion Group Number 1. You owe me an ice cream" Take an ice cream and get out. Everything is polite, everyone is happy, no rabbit was harmed.

most gods and goddesses are pagan gods which don't defy the one true god of the universe, they are most likely to be spirits decieiving people who worship them.

therefore there are NO sexses in a spirit at all, they are intelligent entitties of a much bigger picture.

therefore are humans highly intelligent enough to meet a god or goddess in the flesh?
I have done spiritualisim and my experiences have proven there are just spirits who can help or deceive us which the god of the universe dosen't take part in, he leaves us to decide our of fate and choice.

I'm highly opposed to cult religion it is a very damaging social groups, which ruins peoples lives and family, and I find that most leaders of those sects are nutcases and fools who crave power over others who are vunerable and weak to make their own choice how to live their lives.

I know I'm gonna sound like a churchie here but lets understand the bible abit shall we? Razz

The old testament was written to explain how man sinned and brought problems into the world, God was very strict on how people should live a peaceful life, but because of the mistake and pride on disobeying Gods rules things have changed, now if two humans didn't do the wrong thing at the very start the world would have been perfect but it didn't end up that way so we have ourselves to blame.

The hebrews had to sacrifice a lamb to be forgivien of their sins that they have committed, as for the romans and babylonians and the other civilization that don't follow gods laws, worshipped demons and spirits as their own gods, which their lands were destroyed by their own beliefs.

Now the new testament changed these strict laws and if people were smart to know Jesus was God as a human being, now in the bible they say about christ as the lamb this is because Jesus was going to sarifice himself as a lamb to forgive man for their sins in a very huge way, the only reason people say "I don't believe in a god or whatever" is because it happend a few thousands years from our time DUH! that's why you can't tell it happend but ever thought that maybe the world has changed after the crusifixion? Rolling Eyes

misinterprentation of the bible and all that has been a huge problem for people for centuries in A.D. why? because the new generation of people who never seen christ don't know what to think, abit of soul searching might be good for everyone to think about.

but the one MAJOR rule God put down was "love you neighbour as you love yourself" if sombody is in trouble help them, we have to look out for eachother thats the christian message of the 21st century. Wink

but we do have a choice to be useful or behave as a self cented shit that won't get anywere.

and this is the real deal for everyone wether we like it or not.

And for people who are Atheist sorry but it's a belief in darwin evolution so you can't say it's not a belief, sad but bloody true I'm afraid. Rolling Eyes

I have been baptised as Roman Catholic - which was not my choice, cause i was too young to refuse.

However, i do not see myself with any religion, instead i see myself having all religions and welcoming everyones beliefs. I try my best to understand peoples faiths when it comes to God etc etc etc...

No i have not seen God, nor heard him, but i believe there is a God/ or many Gods...and now so too does science, because the structure of DNA is so complex, scientists say 'only a supreme being could have created something so great'.

What i cannot stand is people whom push their religion on other people - i.e, during the medieval times people were beheaded/ burned at the stake etc for being Catholic or Protestant and (obviously) people would switch and change their religion to be able to live.

Sectarian violence is something i am used to...but i see it as pointless, but many other people would happily go to jail for killing a Catholic/ Protestant. You seen what happened when they cartoons of Mohammed with the bomb turban appeared in many newspapers across Europe, the Muslims went WILD, with signs saying 'behead those whom insult Islam' What the hell? Sad.

The Bible/ Koran (Qur'an) and every other religious scriptures can be taken in so many ways...misinterpretation is common.
