Corrie's Hayley to be brutally attacked
'Coronation Street's Hayley Cropper is set for a dramatic storyline in which she is brutally beaten up.
According to The Sun, the character, played by Julie Hesmondhalgh, is attacked by her long-lost son after he discovers that she is a transsexual.
Hayley is set for a shock when she initially discovers that she has a 20-year-old son, whom she fathered when she was a man.
Hayley tells her son Christian that she is his aunt at first because she is afraid of how he will react but he eventually discovers the truth.
An insider told the newspaper: "Christian is utterly devastated. He believed her when she said she was his aunty and had accepted her as a new part of his family."
"But once she comes clean, he can't control his anger and just lashes out at her. It's a pretty gruesome scene - and there is plenty of blood."
The scenes, which have already been filmed, are due to screened next month.

Hayley Cropper
This is the dramatic moment Corrie's Hayley Cropper gives her long-lost son the mother of all surprises - and reveals she is actually his dad.
After hiring a private eye to find Christian Gatley, transsexual Hayley initially tells him she merely knew his father.
But under pressure from husband Roy, she meets Christian again and comes clean.
However, the day ends in terror when, after the boy gets over his shock, he explodes in brutal fury and batters her.
A Street source said: "Instead of the understanding reaction she hoped for, Christian is disgusted to discover his dad is really a woman. He attacks her, leaving her battered, bloodied and bruised.
Advertisement"These are dreadfully harrowing scenes and anyone who has ever been physically abused by a member of their family could find them extremely upsetting.
"Hayley has endured a lot of bullying and name-calling since her sex change but being physically abused by her own son leaves her devastated."
The factory girl's best pal Becky Granger is horrified at seeing her injuries and threatens to give Christian - actor Andrew Turner - a taste of his own medicine.
But in next month's gritty scenes, Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) amazingly leaps to his defence and insists: "No, Becky, it stops here.
"I should never have got in touch with Christian. He's really a gentle boy but I made his flesh crawl by telling him who I was. It's not his fault, it's mine."
However, she lies to the rest of Weatherfield by claiming she hurt herself falling down stairs.
Hayley's world was turned upside down from the moment an elderly relative left her letters revealing she fathered a son more than 20 years ago.
But the dramatic chain of events since then now threatens to wreck her marriage to loyal Roy.
The Corrie source explained: "Although her physical injuries eventually heal, Hayley is mentally scared and it puts such a strain on her relationship with Roy that it leaves them teetering on the brink of separation.
"This tests the strength of their marriage to the full. He believed she had never had a relationship with anyone else but him."
Hayley was the first transsexual character ever to appear in a British soap. / She had her sex-swap op in Amsterdam - then married Roy.
