i've just finished book 7 (i was pretty busy this past month hence taking so long!) and it really was a good end to the series.
the best part that came out of it was the truth about Snape. It had started to come out in book 5, which made book 6 seem like an odd betrayal on his part, but book 7 cleared everything up and i'm pleased that Snape has left the series on a heroic and noble note.
as for criticism on the harry potter series and JK Rowling apparently stealing ideas. HA! seriously, the series is so complex and well thought out i wonder sometimes how she did it. sure, no man is an island, everyone has their influences, but being influenced isn't stealing, as obviously if everything was only to be used once, literature would be pretty s*** by now.
Ice Maiden, i can only assume by your comments you haven't actually read the books and are probably basing your opinion on the movies, which are nothing like the experience of reading the actual books. they leave so much out and it's really the bare basics of the story. anyone who hasn't read the books isn't really entitled to comment on JK's stead as an author, as criticising someone when you've only known their works through a 2nd hand source isn't a very reliable opinion. _________________ forum moderator

i have the books on audio and listened to them some time ago as far as the latest
and they were not abridged
in fact the books are worse the films at least have some one elses opinion built into them - the director _________________ Man [...] must count no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth." (Jean Paul Sartre, 1943)
