Mark Gatiss turns to the stage

By NADIA MENDOZA

COMMENT ON THIS STORY

MARK GATISS, star of The League of Gentlemen, is turning to the stage for his new role.

Having played unemployed Mickey Michaels in the hit show and Nighty Night's sexually stunted Glenn Bulb, Mark is no stranger to bittersweet characters.

For his latest role he becomes a transvestite called Agrado in the Old Vic's production of All About My Mother, by Pedro Almodovar.

The actor, who has guest-starred in Doctor Who, said rehearsals are going "swimmingly", while his fellow cast members Diana Rigg and Lesley Manville are "just wonderful".

He added: "I'm very lucky.

"It's amazing how the League has opened so many wonderful doors."

All About My Mother is at The Old Vic from 27 August.
