The whole process is kind of scary to me because I feel like my facial structure could not pass for a female even after hormone treatment and such.

Do any of you have any before and after pictures or just 'after' pictures from male to female to comfort me?

Look for the before and after thread in the general Forum here. It is very encouraging.

I don't look remotely feminine. I'm not worried about it; I laugh and the world laughs with me...

I'm prettier than the late Bernard Manning. Just.

I started on hormones two years ago. After a few months, people who I'd not seen since just before I started transition would suggest that I looked five years younger.

Mostly, I don't worry about my appearance. I comb my hair in the morning which compels me to look in the mirror and having made my best effort I reassure myself that for the rest of the day, my appearance is some-bugger-else's problem.

I don't have to look at it.

I feel the same, I hate my masculine features and crave cosmetic surgery every time I look in the mirror. I fear I will never be able to afford it, but maybe I can get a friend with a hamer and chisel to have a go at my nose and jawline someday haha Very Happy

Anyways, to be honest, I wouldnt worry too much about it as it will just make you more self conscious and trust me, from experience, I can tell you that being overly self concious can muck up your head! The most important thing is to be comfortable with who you are and let the rest follow in its natural course Smile after all, if you really honestly do feel you will never look the way you want to a: it will just get you down and b: whats the point getting depressed about something you have no control over?!

I'm not going to tell you you are wrong, but people are usually simply far too self conscious to see what COULD be. Therefore I think its best to be what you know you are and not just concentrate on the physical you. Nurture the person you are and it will make you smile in the place that matters, inside Razz

I know, prob sounds a load of pants, but I assure you that a positive attitude to your person works wonders.

Much love and best wishes for your future

JJ x

Some of the best advice I've read on here for a long time. Over the years I've seen dozens of trans women emotionally destroyed by an over-arching preoccupation with self, by narcissistic self-absorption, and by a morbid dependence on the gender perception of others over whom they have no control, such that the day may be won or lost according to whether they believe they have 'passed' or not - hostages to the opinion of others.

To be honest, I think passing is pretty important but being self-conscious really doesn't help passing one bit. When you lose self-consciousness, it allows you to be yourself and with that comes the more feminine personality you've probably been holding back on due to worrying what everyone thinks. I'm speaking from experience on this one, when I'm a bit down, I do tend to pass less but when I'm happy and don't really care what people think, it's more or less 100% passability and that's coming from someone who as long thought about FFS. Hormones and hair removal can really work some magic on a lot of people. It's best to see what they do for two years before making any definate surgery plans.

There are, by latest reckoning, six-and-a-half billion people on this globe. More alive than have ever died, it is conjectured.

Most of these you will never meet. Even fewer will ever matter.

Most people can count, on the fingers of one hand, the number of friends that they have. These are the only people that one need consider. I've learnt, since coming out, that friendship is gender-blind.

Passing is what one does with strangers in the street. Walk on by...

The expression that they wear is most likely concerned with the state of their mortgage.

As long as it's not you asking for the money I guess that's alright. She seems to know what she's talking about and it is the sort of thing people might be interested in.
