What about if you want to have a surname different to that of your parents but want your parents surname on your birth certificate? is this possible?

Smithscowboy discovered that you can change your surname as well as your first name - it shouldn't matter what you want to change your surname to. So if you want your parents' surname on your new birth certificate I don't see why this should be a problem.

Hey. (Smithscowboy here. It's just that I can't log in because my account is apparently invalid or inactive or something, so this is my third username)

I just wanted to let you all know I got my GRC despite not changing my name by deed poll. I just packed it full of evidence I'd been living as male and sent it away. It took them a couple of months and I expected them to deny me, but man, I was so surprised.

Now, I'm changing all my records. I've started with the HM Rev & Customs but the GRP notified them for me. I've got a new national insurance card coming out to me, and I'm just about to send my driving license away for tweaking Smile

I'm a little annoyed at my local gym though. I called up to change my details and told them to put my new name and gender in the database. Of course they put it in like "Girl name" Sean "surname" and so I had to suffer the embarrassment of the stupid girl at reception informing me that I wasn't that person. I've become really annoyed with this gym because they've also done things like this with my trans friend who also uses it.

Still, after 3 pages worth of posts, I thought I ought to let you know how things turned out. Thanks for all your support
