I thought I'd be a bit of a stuntwoman today and see whether this claim was worth heeding or not. I put the cream on my face and waited. You're suppsoed to leave it on 3-6 minutes depending on hair thickness. This was my nasty facial hair so I figured I'd need the full 6 minutes.
After about 3 or 4 minutes I realised that this wasnt such a good idea after all and quickly aborted the test. My face had started to tingle more than what was really healthy, which even as i was removing the cream started turning to burning. Now about 10 minues after washing it all off later my skin feels like it's been exposed to a flame is very tight and I think it's starting to blister. edit: yes. it's blistering. Some lovely chemical burns there!
Nothing is worth this, especially when I checked afterwards that the cream had only succeeded in removing 50% at most of the hair.
A lesson learnt by me. Passed on to everyone else.

I always wanted to try Veet, but now, i've changed my mind. If you still want to try a cream hair remover for the face, you could try using Surgi-cream. I've already tried it and to tell the truth it was crap, removed about 15 hairs from under my chin and thats it, not much burning though, was red for about an hour. But because everyone is different it might work for others.

My chin and upper lip are fine as is the "sideburns" but my cheeks really really burnt as it's more sensitive skin. I used it one arm too yesterday to test it first and that was fine too. There's other places it advises you not to use it on, but you get the idea

on the other hand, its just the thing for the back of your thighs and the small of your back. it's a little too expensive for general use everywhere though. Just those areas you can't normally reach easily.

I only tend to use veet under my arms, did contemplate using it on my face a while back but i read somewhere else about some bad results.
I tried to eplitate my facial hair once nice results took awhile to regrow but it was really really painfully, I just try for a really close shave until i can afford something more perment

The very same thing happen to me with veet, my face was very red and burning like hell and left very dark red blotches on my neck and cheeks, it's not worth the risk at all.

I also done the same thing on my chest hairs years ago and again burned like hell and left dark red blotches afterwards.

Although some people might not get a very bad reaction to Veet but I know I'm never gonna lay a finger on the stuff.

Way back when Immac was being touted as the hair removal cream i bought some - and you should have seen the assistant wondering what damp stone I'd crawled from under - and foiund that if left on elong enough to rmeove the ahior it also took he skin off and left me with a weird bleeding patch that took many days to heal over.
