It's a no show from me I'm afraid. I'll meet you all some day but finances and a load of stuff to do to get my house all sorted to go on the market before I go to CX on Thursday dictates that I can't come out and play. Think of me doing cleaning and gardening while you are boozing chatting and eating. Have fun!

Well.... the evening was totally screwed up for me. Sad

My sleep-pattern has been totally up the wall for weeks - well, forever actually, but REALLY so for the last couple of weeks - and the upshot was that I dozed off early afternoon and woke too late to make it by 7.
Undaunted, I refocused on getting there by about 8......
but I'd reckoned without the rubbish local bus service....
Yet again, the bus simply didn't turn up and since they're only hourly by that time of night, things were getting worse.

- however, I was chatting to an old guy at the bus-stop. We've been caught like this before and last time, I got us a taxi into Altrincham so this time, he said he'd order one.

After a further series of mishaps and misunderstandings with mobile-phones and the taxi company(s) which took about 45 minutes in all, I eventually got off the Metro and walked up to Taurus shortly after 9, pissed off and far too hot in "all the stuff" I (feel I need to ) wear to present as female.
Meantime, I spoke to my girlyfriend on the phone and learned that she wasn't coming along, so I also knew that I had to leave early too.
Bah....
..... and OK, I admit it...... Saturday nights and Town make me nervous.... too many assholes around pouring too much alcohol into too little brain...

Canal Street was packed, likewise Taurus and I couldn't see anyone I actually recognised - hardly surprising when I've never met anyone and only have a vague memory of the avatar/mug-shots.

By this time, I was totally dispirited and decided to clear off home before anything worse happened, like pulverisation/death-by-cretin.

Sorry.... I did want to come and did try.
Hope it went well for you peeps who went. Very Happy

(....I'll do better next time )

I can understand how you feel, I live in Bristol and I can feel a little nervous if I'm down town in Bristol when I'm near groups of young idiots that seem to be looking for trouble. Last night was the first time I'd ever been to Manchester and so I've only seen a small part of it but I felt really safe and comfortable there Smile.

Awwwwww, that's such a shame, as you enter Taurus we were on the table immediately to your left, there is a bannister type thing there and our table was next to the window closest to the entrance. I should have suggested you PM me to get my mobile number or something so we could have told you where we were.

Awwwww, well we are planning another meet up there in a few months time but I'll let Dave make the arrangements or cat herding again and I'm sure he'll post about it soon. Next time perhaps Steph.

Yeah, that's a real shame. After we got there I suddenly thought "will I recognise anyone" but luckily we got there early and I recognised Dave from his photo. Had a real bad head this morning. Had a really good night though and it was nice meeting you all. Hope I wasn't too boisterous or mouthy by the end of the night Embarassed

I had an excellent night! Very Happy

Anyway, as Becky said, the next one will be on Saturday 16th August. We did think about Pride weekend (which is the following weekend) but the problem with Pride is that in order to get into Canal Street you need a wristband, which costs £12.50 (+ booking fee) in advance, and more on the gates, and it seems a bit much to expect people to pay that much extra. All around the village is completely hectic all weekend, and it'd be impossible to find anywhere to have a meal and be able to chat - believe me, Canal St is rammed from one end to the other. And finally, of course, Pride just isn't everyone's cup of tea! However, if you're coming up for Pride, it'll be great to see you there anyway Very Happy

REM are playing in Manchester on the Sunday of Pride - I'm definitely going, and if anyone else wants to hook up that'd be great - tickets are still available. Radiohead are playing on Sunday 29th June, which is the Sunday of Sparkle for anyone wanting to make a weekend of it, and again, tickets are still available; I'm going to that too, so if anyone else wants to hook up that's cool as well Very Happy

Dave
