I'm looking to buy a couple of binders and I've been searching the web for something that will do the best job. Trouble is, I'm restricted because of the size of my ribcage.

So far, I've only found Underworks (http://ftm.underworks.com/) to have anything in the size I need (their 3XL, 53-56). However, from the reviews of the bindings I read on this website (http://binderreviews.googlepages.com/reviews) it seems that the best one, the Underworks Double Front Compression Vest, has been discontinued.

Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative suppliers/producers, or advise for which Underworks product to go for?

As far as I can tell from looking at that reviews site, the Underworks: Double Front Compression Vest, Underworks: Double Front Compression Shirt and Underworks: Double Panel Compression Shirt are all referring to the same product - this one. That's definitely my favourite out of the ones I've tried, and it does a great job of binding.

I've oredered from Underworks on a number of occasions in the past, and they've always been great. They're used to FTMs, so if you need more advice, you could always give them a call and speak to someone.

I followed the above link, and the first item at the top of the page was the double front compression shirt. I personally prefer my tri-tops to my double front, as they requires marginally less arm-dislocation to get on and off Very Happy

I'm glad you put that link there, as it says they've got FTM swimwear coming soon. I think I'll keep an eye on that, see what it's like.

Looks like it's already there and they just haven't updated that page yet - check it out! Very Happy

Thanks everyone. I've put an order in for the binder flameboy recommended, hopefully I won't kill myself getting it on and off which seems to be the only problem with these things. If it arrives before the weekend I'll practise getting it on and off before work on Monday!

The first time I wear a new binder, I've always had to get my partner to give me a hand putting it on; but once it's been worn a few times, and washed, I generally have no problem at all.

Some guys have found it easier to step into the binder and pull it up rather than trying to pull it on over their head - that doesn't work as well for me personally, but if you're having trouble it's worth a try!

A good idea! I might wash it first and see if that helps any, but I'll give it a few attempts none the less. It should be slightly bigger than I need, but hopefully that will ease the whole putting-it-on/taking-it-off process. I've heard that you can't tumble dry these things- how do you dry yours?

I just dry mine over the radiator, or if it's nice weather, on the line outside. We don't have a tumble dryer, so that's not an option for me anyway!

Ah, I see! That's what I'll attempt with this one then. I got the tracking details in my inbox this morning- I didn't expect it to be shipped off so fast!

Be careful with that - last time I ordered 3, customs "misread" the amount that it was worth and hammered me for duty - they read it as $200 when it very clearly said $20.00! Because Underworks had written the amount as $20.00 - presumably to be friendly and help me avoid paying duty - rather than what it actually had cost, I didn't have a receipt saying $20. I'm sure I could still have argued the point, and asked Underworks to write to state the value of the goods - however, in the end I couldn't be bothered (cos I'm a lazy sod!) If you're on the dole, however, I can imagine it could be much more of a problem for you Sad

I've got round it nowadays by sending them to a mate's house in the US when he goes home for holidays (taking advantage of Underworks free shipping) and then he brings them back here. If you've got any mates in the US you could try somthing similar - if they send them as a gift with a low value clearly written on the customs declaration label, you should be fine Smile

unlucky with customs there.

i import packages worth £50-£100 and have never had customs question it.

You would think theyd spot the number of packages i get from japan

i buy my binders 2 at a time n thats never been questioned by customs

Ah, thanks for that. Blind as a bat, me!
It looks great, but I'm umm-ing and ah-ing over whether or not I can wait another year until I've had top surgery before I go swimming again. As I've already waited about 5, I guess I can... Very Happy
