Well, this is actually my second introduction to this board- I was here briefly in mid 2006, before university work swallowed me whole.
My name's Jonathan officially now (although my parents don't seem able to accept this, but that's another story entirely...) I'm 20 years old, but I act like I'm 45. I'm a 3rd year student of Ancient History BA at Cardiff Uni, and I live in Cardiff with my fiancé Rosalind (AKA Roz), who supports me completely through the last 4 or 5 years we've known each other. I'm hoping to go on and do a MA and/or PHD in that subject, or a related one.
I'm working at the moment for an Insurance Claims Management company, and today will be my third day (eeeek!) but it's not half as frightening as I thought it would be.
Roz and I own two cats presently, but hopefully when we're no longer students and have our own house, I'll be allowed to get myself some chickens and some goats and grow my own veg and fruits and the rest of it- which I'm looking forwards to. We want children too, although they probably won't be biologically mine, even by the time I get my OP. Although I suppose it doesn't matter- I've never been of the opinion that biologically parenting a child makes you a parent. But that's a discussion for another time and place!
I've hopefully been referred by my local GP and psychiatrist to London, but I haven;t heard anything back from them as yet, but as it's only been a month I won't worry too much. Presently I'm looking for bindings that will suit my larger frame, so if anyone does have any recommendations, please drop me a note!

Have you had any issues with funding? That's one of the things worrying me at the moment, that they'll just turn around and say "We won't pay for that" like I've heard is common/standard for Wales. _________________ Words like violence, break the silence

Hi Jonathan, and welcome (back) to tzone!
I've replied to your binder question in your other thread, so hopefully that'll be of some help to you.
Look forward to hearing more from you
Dave

Actually, I've only been told it might be a slight problem. They've said while I'm in Wales I should get hormones free/reduced cost due to the way prescriptions are dealt with here, but when it comes to the op itself I will probably have to put some (between 25-50% of total) of my own money towards it as Welsh NHS doesn't get as much funding as some of the English counties.
...That's what they told me at the LINKS centre, at least. What were you told?

Nothing yet :D Still waiting on my first psych appointment. No date yet still :(
25-50% is better than nothing I guess, but what you said alleviates some of the worry I had :) |
All my reports an meetings were sorted out very quickly- I think it only took about 6 months from my first consultation with a GP to me meeting with Dr Hughes, who is the head of the LINKS centre, in regard to psych reports at any rate!

Thank you Ren!
May I say that my cats find your little dancing icon very interesting? I'm afraid I don't know why!

Maybe it's easier for me to feel like that because I know I can't have biological children and I accepted that a long time ago. |
Well, I guess they're finding it hard to accept and understand... I don't spend much time at home anymore and never really talked with them about how I felt. I suppose the blame is more mine than theirs but... I could have done with some support!
As for children we're in the same boat, but it's never bothered me. If you bring them up to the best of your abilities, you love them and you keep them safe, well, that's pretty much the duties of a parent. I just don't want to be a 'guardian' of my partner's children, I want to be known as their father. But that's one bureaucracy hurdle to jump when we get there!
