Kind of confused...why would it? If anything it would prevent it. Maybe I've missed something. _________________ Hellfrozeover be a pirate and a Transgenderzone moderator.

Everything I've ever read says spiro should reduce male pattern baldness.
otoh, getting older is known to cause baldness in both men and women (and others), regardless of hormonal balances. I assume you were getting older while you were taking spiro, yes? _________________ The boobs are just a set of metaphors.

spironalactone tends to only be used in women for hypertension because of it's anti androgen effects it's not really used for men.
in transsexual women it is useful for treating hypertension as it has a combined antihypertensive and antiandrogen effect.i don't know of any evedence that it causes baldness.it is more likely to reduce or stop it because of it's antiandrogen effect.there are better anti androgens like cyproterone acetate or goserelin but spiro is good for high blood pressure in transsexuals.a lot of people put on weight when they start eostrogen and that puts your blood pressure up which needs to be treated.
any hair loss will be halted by eostrogen and you might get some regrowth but in general anti androgens or hormones wont make hair grow back that has been gone for over 10 years as the follicles are dead by then.hair transplantation is an option but if hair loss is extensive then it is a waste of time and money.i have had very little regrowth of hair with finasteride and eostrogen but i lost a lot of my hair a few years after puberty.

Just curious do you have long hair and when you say your losing your hair is it residing(sp?)/bald patches or do you just have hair falling out.
Mines reasonably long and i get plenty of hair falling out but im not going bald or residing(sp?) i was a little worried to start with but since im on going bald im guessing its fine.

Just a quetion if people are taking 200mg of spiro, yet I'm only taking 50mg of Cyprone actetate why am I getting major results in preventing hair loss yet at such a small dosage?
Any Ideas on why this happens? _________________ Misery is my company, why do I stand out from the rest of the people around me.

hypertension? are you %100 sure about that? I thought it was mostly treating women for high levels of Testosterone for unwanted hair.

I kinda figured that's what the medication was mostly used for I could be
wrong.

and how many mg of eostregean would needed for hair prevention?

As far as what I've read, too much anti-androgean can possibly cause baldness as Testosterone has nothing to do with pattern baldness as it can occur in women too, but can also cause pregenantcy problems in women taking it, it's also used for the treatment of acne problems as my GP have informed me of it's side effects between men and women.
But when I mean possible I mean it may or maynot happen. _________________ Misery is my company, why do I stand out from the rest of the people around me.

Testosterone is responsible for causing pattern baldness, in its more potant form of dihydrotestosterone anyway. _________________ When I grow up I want to be a BIZARRO fire engine

dihydrotestosterone? never heard of it.
Is that also the cause for some women to go bald as well? _________________ Misery is my company, why do I stand out from the rest of the people around me.

there are lots of causes for people going bald, both male and female ranging from stress to alopecia.
dihydrotestosterone is a major cause in male pattern baldness, as the hair folicles (on some people) on the top of the head are sensitive to DHT.... I presume this *could* be a cause in women going bald too as both testosterones and estrogens are naturally present in both men and women.
it would be incorrect to say it was the only cause though _________________ When I grow up I want to be a BIZARRO fire engine

I found that it is possible to lose hair on spiro however it didn't cause baldness i think it was due to the temporary hormone upset and don't forget women lose some hair due to breakage etc anyway. _________________ stand by to be foxed
