That'll be them not telling you then!!!

I spoke to a guy from press for change at the weekend. He got rather angry and said it was complete rubbish that they couldnt change my title and that if they wouldnt do it to let him know and he would talk to them for me.

Apparently it happens alot.... Rolling Eyes

They get confused with the computer system because when they tick Mr then leave the gender as female which they have to do for medical reasons (which I understand and am fine with) the "computer says no" (say that in a little britain stylee Cool

). So if they tick the 'other' box then write in Mr as the 'other' it should work fine

Ive got the number I need to ring so I'll be trying that today

Ok, I spoke to someone helpful who also had to speak to her manager (I dont know if it was the same one) and she said if I send them my Deed Poll they can change my title.

Im still not convinced they will do it to be honest but Ive sent off a certified copy of my deed poll anyway. I also put in a copy of my psychs letter too just for good measure!

Now I shall wait and see what happens.....

I hope it comes back to you, George, and they don't do what the bastards at Robinson, Way and Co. of Manchester did. They put it in the shredder and I'd like to do the same to them. (They didn't change my name after all that, either...)

You shouldn't have to send your deed poll. A written request to their data controller is all that the DPA 1998 requires. Anyway, best of luck...

Seeing as you can get a Gender Recognition certificate with out having any operations I doubt this is correct.

This crops up all the time, due to healthcare professionals and admin knowing teapot nothing about a transperson's rights.

I changed my name by deed on April 6th 2006, I requested my GP practise change my medical records to new name, title and gender. Initially my GP practise manager refused, so I contacted the local medical records office. I informed them of the situation and they contacted my doctor's surgery, my details were changed asap and I was sent a letter of apology from the practise.

An update:

A new NHS medical Card arrived for me today with MR George ****** and a new NHS number so it looks like the PPSA did eventually do their thing.

The funny thing is that they have my Dr down as Ms Cullen and he is actually a Mr Laughing

As it was my GP just changed my title in the dropdown box on her computer when I saw her to get my T prescription so it really wsnt that much of a problem - just a manager not knowing what they were talking about.... Rolling Eyes

I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but a very similar thing happened to me - the Practice Manager told me she wasn't sure if they could change it or not, and then my GP just changed it on his screen!
