This is a very worthy cause we were recently contacted by Broken Rainbow about helping to find trans models who would be prepared to be made up for a domestic violence poster as they currently use stock image and need a trans person as part of their campaign - expenses and i think a small fee will be available - discuss this with Aimee and if you apply keep us updated.

From Aimee

The images attached are Plain Gay and lesbian stock images, and to be honest they were hard as Heck to come by (why does every gay person look ecstatic in stock images?). Here is our (soon to be made into something much prettier) site: www.broken-rainbow.org.uk. We ran the above adverts in The Guardian Newspaper, but would more likely run other stuff in LGBT mags or in our e-newsletter. Posters could be sent out Nationally, though - something to point out. We have large amount of requests by Police stations and Nationwide Councils.

The thing is that DV [Domestic Violence] is almost invisible in the gay and lesbian community, let alone the trans-community. It seems to me that this isn't going to change unless we change it. I am the person who puts together the ads to take to my CEO, and I am more than happy to work with either an individual or a group so they feel comfortable with the direction taken, etc.

As for confidentiality? 100% guaranteed. I'm not looking for an angle, but rather to try to reach every group in L G B T.

Anyone can contact me with questions or comments. I'd be happy to answer them as best I can. Any help you can give would be awesome and much appreciated Smile

Kind regards,

If you would like to model for this domestic violence charity - remember you do not have to be a supermodel - this is about the face of violence
and you may change many lives throught out the UK and world because of your selfless act please

Contact Aimee White
mail@broken-rainbow.org.uk

and mention Transgender Zone Tzone Team so she is aware of where you read it as we have been in communications with her about mass circulation of these requests

Thank You Smile

The link didn't work properly for me, so here's a version that does: Broken Rainbow

Hello, Tzone

This help is amazing, as is the forum post - and the mail forward.

If anyone needs to contact me to have a chat then my number is: 08452 60 55 60 (our office line - 8am - 4pm)

I'm very open to ideas and directions to be taken. As I said before, I want to make DV more visible in every section of our LGBT community.

Any suggestions, comments, ponderings, pointers, etc - feel free to drop me a line. (I'll be in and out of the office for the rest of this week due to the LGBT Jobfair and a few conferences)

Thank you once again Smile

Aimee

I agree this is important and awareness raising is a start to getting DV/DA on the agenda. Broken Rainbow are aware that Trans DV is the most underreported area there is and this puts people at risk
