'Pretty/Handsome' can't find a home
Controversial pilot starred Joseph Fiennes, Blythe Danner

By Nellie Andreeva
Hollywood Reporter
7th July 2008

It's the end of the road for Ryan Murphy's transsexual drama "Pretty/Handsome."

The controversial project, exec produced by Murphy, Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner, was developed for FX, which ordered it to pilot starring Joseph Fiennes as a family man who decides to get a sex change.

The pilot, which co-starred Blythe Danner, Robert Wagner and Christopher Egan, created strong buzz around town, but in March, FX passed on it.

Around the same time, Egan landed the lead in NBC's new series "Kings."

"Pretty/Handsome" producer 20th Century Fox TV shopped the project to other outlets but was unsuccessful.

Hi Stella
thats a shame about the show, i would have thought that the station that did queer as fokethe the usa version would have jumped at the chance to do a trans drama , then they could show it on logo. i love to watch that channel when iam in new york, iam there once a year at christmas,
logo have loads of difrent dramas& films, on trans lesbian & gay

My guess, Lady Tanya, is that series producers judge that we are at 'Peak Trans' right now in media land - what with the 'Pregnant Man' and all - such that by the time this series could have been gotten ready, the trans wave would already have passed into yesterday's buzz.
