I'm intrigued by the single name. Being quite happy with my chosen three, it hadn't occurred to me to check the law on this. I recall seeing something somewhere about having to have two names in order to execute a deed poll on change of name, but I can't remember whether the source in question had legal authority.

Certainly, a title is not necessary and many organisations will omit it if asked. I receive post regularly that omits my title.

Maybe we could have a standard letter we could make copies of and carry them around to staple to the forms instead of filling in those bits

I would personally prefer my name to be used, though in recent years I've found myself being referred to 'That gentleman over there' which is beginning to make me feel like a tin of baked beans. Labelled before I even have a chance to say hello.

So, in a world of titles, I would most prefer we never use them, at all.
